Ewald Spieker studied at the Rietveld Academy, Amsterdam, where he was inspired by the German typographic artist Josua Reichert, who lectured there in 1970. His Amsterdam studio serves not only as a library, a workshop for typesetting, printing, and blanking, but also as a "typogallery". The press, the letter, the paper and their innate simplicity reign here under the law of the letter, not the under the letter of the law.
In 2003 he published the book "Letter Lust", together with Kees van Kooten. This book will be for sale during the exposition, just as the catalogue of the recent exposition of works by Spieker, Werkman, Sandberg, HAP Grieshaber and Reichert in Rosenheim, Germany,"Wiederholte Spiegelungen" ("Repeated Mirror Images").
