Sanchez received his BFA from Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids, MI, and later received his MFA from the New York Academy of Art. His surprisingly precise and virtuoso small drawings with color ballpoint pen only appear photorealistic at first sight, but you van see the various crosshatching techniques up close. . They are drawn, without prior pencil sketch, directly by different colored ballpoint pen on the paper. His work includes images of the rural Midwest, portraits of family members and animals. His charcoal drawings often depict details of rural structures. Sometimes they appear in dialoqgue with black and white photography. He alternates his drawing work with larger painting in oil on canvas, showing similar subjects, put down looser but just as virtuosic as his drawings.
