Oswaldo Santano was educated at the Escuela de Arte Integral in Madrid and at the Escola Guignard e Gravura na Escola de Belas Artes, of the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, Brazil. Much of his work is characterized by an exuberant use of soil minerals as pigment. In abstract paintings he depicts, among other things, memories and impressions associated with travel, prehistory and archeology. He has exhibited extensively in Viçosa, Bela Horizonte and Ouro Preto (MG), Itajaí (SC) and Salvador (BA) in Brazil, as well as in Spain: in Almeria at the 1st Bienal de Pintura y Escultura de Almeria and in Madrid at the Casa do Brasil, Estúdio Pizzaro and Clausura Circulo de Bellas Artes. Oswaldo Santano lives and works in Viçosa, Minas Gerais, Brazil. In 2008 Galerie Wit presented work by him in the exhibition "Colors of the earth".
