2017
Amsterdam
Since 2017, Van Rijn & Van Soest (the photographer Frederique van Rijn and the draftsman Meinbert Gozewijn van Soest) have been working together and in close collaboration on copying photos with chalk and pigments, pencil and ink. The subjects are often chosen together: mostly landscapes, and flowers grown by Van Rijn in her garden and in the studio. The photos are printed on Hahnemühle photo paper, ranging in size from A6 to A2, and glued to wooden panels, usually with oval shape or rounded corners, shapes based on elliptical boards made as folk art in the last century. Postcards were attached to this, with the image completed in paint up to the edge of the panel.
