Yohannis Tesfaye graduated from the Fine Arts School in 2001, studied in Moscow, Russia, and worked for some time as an artist in Cologne. His current work is purely abstract, often painted on irregularly shaped pieces of paper or characteristically shaped canvases with curved edges and sometimes elliptical holes in them. He has previously exhibited at the Addis Abeba University Fine art school, the Alliance Francaise in Addis Abeba, the Asni gallery, and the -German school, and restored paintings in the Holy Trinity cathedral in Addis Ababa.
