1977 Addis Ababa Ermias Mazengia (1977-2013) graduated cum laude from the School of Fine Arts in 2000. Between 1995 and 2003 he took part in ten group exhibitions, with both paintings and installations. In 2003 he had two solo exhibitions: at the Goethe Institute and at the Tewannery Studio. His expressionist paintings are usually highly autobiographical, inspired by dreams or memories: the story of an aunt forced to sell her favorite chicken, the intractable links between brain and genitals, and a diptych of unpleasant memories of a brutal police arrest.
